St. Michaels Community Wildlife Garden is found opposite St. Michaels Station adjacent to Priory Wood. For the last year it has been managed by the Growing Together Project based at St. Michaels and Lark Lane Community Centre at The Old Police Station on Lark Lane. A group of eco-therapy students have worked alongside local residents and gardening and wildlife enthusiasts to diversify the space with fruit growing trees and wild flowers. Care has been taken to preserve its woodland character and appreciate and record the wildlife living here.
The Growing Together Project received a Level 4 Award from the Royal Horticultural Society in 2015 in recognition that the project is thriving. The Growing Together polytunnel, which is used by many community groups, is opposite the Centre. www.larklanecomcentre.org.uk.
